#mycreativevoice

One of my lettering heroes, Molly Jacques, started a weekly lettering challenge. As I’m trying to get better with being a more consistent challenge taker and participant, you’ll get to see my updates as I move through the challenge.

PROMPT - FUN This week was all about lettering a word in a style that evokes FUN. I always have the best time out in nature and opted for a sans serif style with a bouncing baseline. Keeping it simple and clean!

PROMPT - DRAMATIC This week’s prompt was all about creating drama with our lettering. I have always found any typeface with hairline serifs and bold chunky strokes to be the epitome of drama. Throw in a swash and some bright dimension, you got yourself lettering that has drama.

PROMPT - COLOR VIBRATION Color is a funny thing. It has the ability to express moods and feelings. It can evoke deep emotions. It can complement your piece and also detract from it. This prompt was about playing with color vibration – so purposely making the colors feel uncomfortable against each other. Not only did I use this as a chance to play with colors that I wouldn’t typically use but I also explored a style I don’t usually draw letters in.
